Here are the results from the survey
In all there were 9 responses out of 20 participants
All answered they had a blast or enjoyed the weekend
The best:
Interacting with the other participants.
The nice cool weather.
The authenticity of each participant.
hanging out at the tavern and all the music and singing
Sitting on the front porch of the Bell House sewing and talking to other ladies
New site has great potential and I think we were truly welcome.
Our household managed to stay in better first person at this event than at previous ones, which was very enjoyable.
The interactions amongst the participants/ the cat/ my new shako/ free chin whisker backrubs from Cody/ the apple sauce and pound cake/ cold watermelon
I thought the entire event was enjoyable. Maybe a little hot.
The worst:
The heat and humidity.
Unavoidable things, like seeing vehicles, and airplanes.
The humidity
I didn't fair well with the weather, not something we can control, I just need to be better prepared for it in the future.
The heat. Oh my God! Have this at a cooler time of the year.
Heat and humidity.
Suggestions:
Church service on Sunday would be nice.
The temperature and the timing of that one freak storm.
Stricter policies for leaving early and bringing vehicles in during event.
Perhaps more businesses?
Maybe earlier in the year, but that may not be possible.
Need to rethink Store as we have no space for it. Post Office is a go. Figure out how to utilize cabin at the back, possibly a kitchen.
The time of year. This site actually worked out pretty well, for all of its difference from Henkel Square.
More people would have shown up.
Majority of respondents thought site needed just a little tweaking.
Site suggestions:
It would be nice if there were more buildings available for our use, especially a church.
Some, but with only a volunteer staff on site they may not be doable. If I lived closer to the site I would be willing to volunteer to help refurb the structures/farming implements/ fields, etc.
A question - would the tavern guys be happier with their own canvas and a site near the Bell House? Would we be better ignoring the village area and focusing on the 3 farm sites? On the other hand, having a village is just nice.
Hopefully second restroom will be completed and a map of site amenites like water spigots, etc. Need to get windows cleared of paint so we can open them. And a way to open back door on the house we used for ventilation.
There are so few building-oriented sites available I think this one will work fine.
Barbed wire fences should be removed. Fields should ba maintained. The volunteers should try to achieve higher levels of authenticity if they want to participate.
100% of the respondents would attend again
Other comments:
Great and enjoyable event overall. Can wait until the next one! You did a wonderful job finding a site on such short notice.
Great job Annette. Thank you for putting it on. I had a very good time and look forward to another one.
Bless you Annette for putting this on. It was a ball. Next year I'll talk Jim into day tripping and I'll stay out there with his stuff or something. We can make this work.
Looking forward to more of the same. Maybe avoid mid to late May in the future.
