1860 election results

Anyway, the Texas Almanac for 1861 and 1862 did not have county by county results for the 1860 presidential election in Texas. However, I did track down an online dissertation (Walter Buenger, "Stilling the Voice of Reason: Texas and the Union, 1854-1861") that had a great appendix in volume 2 giving each county, population in 1860 slave and free, and all higher state and federal election results from 1852 through secession, along with economic type and largest cultural group. Really excellent! (German indicates "largest cultural group", not only cultural group. Most counties were more (or less) mixed.)
