Great book. A lot of insight into daily life in east Texas, around Marshall, during the war. Also the letters from Mr. Perry on campaign offers an illustration into the Texas soldiers life in western Louisiana.

The Perrys were wealthy, so it is not an ordinary persons account, but still a good read. Lots of information on babies .
