September 14th, 2011 -TEXANS ATTACK ON UNION GUNBOATS AT CALCASIEU
PASS.

In 1864, Texas artillery and infantry units launched a surprise, dawn attack on two heavily armed, well-armored Union gunboats at Calcasieu Pass, just across the Louisiana border. Greatly out-gunned, the Texans fought a desperate, bloody artillery duel, captured both gunboats, and either captured or killed all Union forces in the battle. This PowerPoint presentation includes gunboat and participant photos, battle paintings, action maps, blow-by-blow narration, first-person
recollections, and the miracle shot that won the battle.
Presented by John Guittard.
